First sorry for my bad english I'm from europe but i hope you get what i try to tell you. Nobody can tell you how long it takes to get over him, after a break up you need time, sometimes when you lose your partner you feel like you lost yourself, sure you're hurt but i think you should see it in another way i mean every break up has a reason and sometimes what hurts are just the memories of the past, now you should but yourself in the number one position in your life don't be scared to move on, i know you may not believe it at this moment but you will get over him! The memory stays but you will look back at it with a smile you lost him but you lost not yourself so get you're life straight do the thinks you like go out and build for yourself a life after him, you're heart will heal so fast i totally get that in this moment you maybe can't believe it but in time feelings change and you're feelings about him also. You will see there is a life for you without him tell yourself some things are just not meant to be.
It usually also depends on how you guys broke up. If it was on a bad note it may be very hard to deal with it, but if you guys are still friends, probably a little easier depending on whether you're ok with that.. I am so sorry to hear though that a four year relationship has ended. Time is the best healer and so please spend time around those who make you happy. Please take care.
